Assistant Foreman

Under the supervision of the Production Foreman, the Assistant Foreman participates in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of shift operations. He or she ensures compliance with quality, health and safety, and productivity standards, while providing ongoing support to teams on the production floor. Acting as a link between production, supervision, and other departments, he or she actively contributes to the continuity and efficiency of operations in a unionized environment. This position is ideal for a proactive, engaged individual who is ready to take on increased responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of production lines to ensure smooth operations and product compliance.
  • Participate in daily planning and task allocation based on shift priorities.
  • Monitor equipment conditions, identify irregularities, and promptly communicate with maintenance.
  • Ensure supervision and operational continuity in the absence of the Foreman.
  • Ensure adherence to manufacturing procedures, health and safety regulations, and relevant clauses of the collective agreement.
  • Report any non-compliance, incidents, absences, or disciplinary matters to the Foreman.
  • Actively participate in the training, coaching, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Help maintain a positive work environment and foster team engagement.
  • Participate in production meetings and relay key information to team leaders.
  • Propose and support continuous improvement initiatives, as well as perform any other related duties.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in a manufacturing and unionized environment (an asset).
  • Strong ability to communicate in French.
  • Experience in personnel management (an asset).
  • Availability to work a hybrid evening/night shift.
  • Analytical mindset and ability to solve operational problems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
